Air Fryers and Food Safety to Be Discussed at the Science Café Event

As part of the Science Café series, Dr. Kübra Damla Ekenci, an assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, will host a talk titled “The Hidden Side of Fried Food: Air Fryers and Food Safety” on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Bandırma Cumhuriyet Square.
The event will address the effects of air fryers—which have become widely used in homes in recent years—on food safety, the undesirable compounds that may form during cooking, and recommendations for safe use. Participants will have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge applicable to daily life, informed by scientific data.
Additionally, the event will feature the sharing of recent findings from research conducted in Spain under the TÜBİTAK 2219 Overseas Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program; information will be provided on the advantages of using air fryers, key considerations, and healthy cooking methods.
All our students, academic and administrative staff, and the general public are invited to attend the event.
