Mission & Vision and Our Purpose

MISSION

Our mission is to be a pioneer actor in achieving social functionality and social welfare by training professional social workers who will work in line with the definition of social work and the following objectives and by doing original scientific research in the field of social work. These goals are:

1. Prevention and improvement of individual, interpersonal and social problems,
2. Developing and strengthening programs, practices and policies that aim to develop  the opportunities and resources required for people to use their full potential, and their capacities,
3. Elimination of conditions that limit human development and quality of life,
4. Development of values such as human rights, social justice and respect for differences.

VISION

Our vision is to train leading social workers who direct the social policy of our country; to be an important center where academic knowledge is produced in the field of social work theory and practice.

 

DEPARTMENT’S PURPOSE

The aim of the department is to give basic information about teaching methods and the field and to obtain the ability to transfer this information to the practical field. For this purpose, the curriculum includes core courses will facilitate the understanding of the social work field, also it contains a large number of specialized courses which aims to bring solutions to these issues by analyzing social issues in Turkey. It also includes current supportive sub-topics related to legal and social policies. In this way, it is aimed that students will contribute to future social work studies in terms of science and profession.

In this context, the main purpose of the Social Work Undergraduate Department is;

For students,

• Following and learning about the developments in the world by giving priority to the country's needs;

• Absorbing the knowledge, values and skills required for professional social work;

• Will be able to realize social work practices in rural and urban environments, public sector, private sector, non-governmental organizations;

• Provide bio-psycho-social and moral support to all individuals, families, groups and communities, especially disadvantaged individuals, by working together with them;

• Will contribute to social policies by producing knowledge about the field with the knowledge gained from the field and theories;

• To ensure that all other relevant personnel who work as practitioners in social work fields are competent social workers who will contribute to their professional development, and have the qualification of organizer, planner, educator and researcher, and bring them to the society.

Its aim;

• To raise individuals who ground on human rights and social justice principles, who support social change, and who can produce knowledge by using theories on human behavior and social systems;

• To raise individuals who have a profession that intervening in the interaction points of people with their environment, aims to strengthen family ties for the development of people's health and well-being, to enable individuals, families and groups to successfully fulfill their social functions, to solve problems in all human relations, to strengthen and liberate them.
