The Social Work for Children: Experience, Challenges and Opportunities Event was Held

As part of the “Social Work Department Activities,” our university organized an event titled “Social Work for Children: Experience, Challenges, and Opportunities” for students and staff. The event, held at the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Conference Hall, featured Ayşen Gündüz, a Senior Social Worker at the Bandırma District Social Work Center, as a speaker.

The seminar began with an opening speech by our department chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun. Gündüz addressed the institutional, professional, and individual dimensions of Social Work for Children and shared the social service interventions carried out for children within the Ministry of Family and Social Work. In addition, the social service interventions carried out at Social Work Centers, ranging from work with children who are victims of crime, neglect, and abuse to interventions aimed at families, were among the prominent topics of the presentation.

Gündüz shared the challenges encountered in the profession and the opportunities it offers based on her own experiences. At the end of the program, students had the opportunity to learn about the practical aspects of social work for children and Gündüz's personal professional experiences by asking questions. The program ended with our department chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun, and Prof. Dr. Recep Yıldız presenting a certificate of appreciation to Ayşen Gündüz.
