Medical Social Work: Experience, Challenges and Opportunities Event Held

As part of "Social Work Department Activities-2," an event titled "Medical Social Work: Experience, Challenges, and Opportunities" was held for department students. Hüseyin Eker, a social worker at Bandırma Training and Research Hospital, participated as a speaker at the event, held in the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Conference Hall.
In his presentation, Eker addressed the institutional, professional, and individual dimensions of Medical Social Work, providing a detailed explanation of the duties, roles, and responsibilities of social workers working within the Ministry of Health. Highlights of the presentation included various cases, roles, and responsibilities, ranging from social work interventions conducted in hospitals and work with substance-addicted children to interventions for victims of neglect and abuse.
Throughout the event, Eker shared the challenges faced and the opportunities offered by the profession through his own experiences. At the end of the program, students had the opportunity to learn about both the practical aspects of medical social work and Eker's personal professional experiences through their questions.
