In the Light of December 5th: A Respect Talk and Orienteering Event for the Silent Heroes of History
The Women, Family, and Community Services Application and Research Center, directed by our department's faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Aca, held a talk and orienteering event titled "In the Light of December 5th: Respect for the Silent Heroes of History" in collaboration with the Social Work Community at the Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Hall.
In the talk, History Teacher Penbe Boztepe discussed the leadership, resilience, and transformational power of female figures who contributed to social development in different periods. The political, social, and cultural influences of figures such as Nilüfer Hatun, Hürrem Sultan, Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan, Züleyha Zeynep Hanım, and Müfide Kadri were summarized and explained. The roles of Meryem Atmaca, Kara Fatma, Nene Hatun, and the unsung women of the War of Independence during the struggle were also highlighted.
University students, as well as teachers and students from Haydar Çavuş Trade Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, attended the event. Following the speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Aca and Dr. Member Gizem Burcu Karaali presented Penbe Boztepe with a certificate of appreciation and flowers.
The Orienteering Event, held in the second part of the program, featured questions about historical female figures mentioned in the interview, placed at various locations around campus. The Third New Artists won the competition between the Third New Artists Theater Group and the Social Work Student Group. The event concluded with a group photo.
