Future Social Workers in the Field

Fourth-year students of the Social Work Department at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University continue to produce social benefits through field studies conducted as part of their Applied Education course. Bringing their academic knowledge and professional skills to the practical environment, students make significant contributions at the individual, family, and community levels through their work in various social work areas.

Throughout the semester, these practices, carried out in collaboration with public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and local governments, are conducted under the guidance and supervision of experienced social workers and training personnel working in the field. In this context, students actively participate in multifaceted activities such as working with disadvantaged groups, strengthening social support mechanisms, raising awareness, and developing protective and preventive services, while having the opportunity to learn professional practices directly from the knowledge and experience of field experts.

The work carried out for children, the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and at-risk groups is not limited to service delivery but also reflects a structured, ethically based, and sustainable intervention approach guided by the professional expertise of field specialists. This process strengthens students' professional decision-making skills and concretizes the link between theory and practice.

Among the activities carried out by the students are: Social investigation and needs analysis, psychosocial support studies, group activities, training and information programs, and community awareness campaigns are included. All these activities are shaped within a holistic educational experience through the supervision of field experts and the coordination of the academic staff.

The collaboration between the academic staff of the Social Work Department and the experts working in field applications supports the professional identity development of students while strengthening the bond between the university and society. Experiences gained in the field contribute to students being better equipped and prepared for their professional roles after graduation.
