Case Analysis with YEDAM during Green Crescent Week, March 1-7
At Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, a program organized jointly by the Social Work Department, the Young Green Crescent Society, the Social Work Society, and the Science Communication Office was held as part of the 1-7 March Green Crescent Week, emphasizing the fight against addiction, volunteerism, and social awareness.
The program began with a moment of silence and the recitation of the Turkish National Anthem. In his opening speech, Research Assistant Dr. Mücahit Baykul, Advisor to the Young Green Crescent Society, spoke about the importance of the 1-7 March Green Crescent Week, the establishment process of the Young Green Crescent Society, and the activities carried out within the Social Work Department.
Following this, the Head of the Social Work Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun, stated that the Social Work Department continues to strongly support the social contribution policy of both the faculty and the university. Altun noted that Green Crescent Week is an important week that increases social awareness regarding the fight against addiction, especially contributing to the awareness of young people, and congratulated the students who actively participate in social issues, volunteer work, and dedicate their efforts. Altun also emphasized that the department's support for the Young Green Crescent Community will continue unwavering.
As part of the program, a message from the President of the Green Crescent, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Dinç, who sent a greeting video to the participants despite his busy schedule, was also shown. Dinç drew attention to the importance of the Young Green Crescent Community established in Bandırma and the awareness of volunteerism.
In the presentation section of the event, Baybars Kaan Yeşilırmak, a Social Service Specialist from Balıkesir YEDAM, met with the students. Yeşilırmak shared his field experience with the students by interactively explaining the counseling and case follow-up process of a client who applied to the Green Crescent Counseling Center using a question-and-answer method.
At the end of the program, Baybars Kaan Yeşilırmak was thanked for his contributions, and a certificate of appreciation was presented to him by the Head of the Social Services Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun. The event concluded with thanks to the participants and wishes for a healthy life free from addictions.
