A Social Awareness Panel Against Violence Against Women Was Held
A panel discussion was organized by the Women, Family and Community Services Application and Research Center (BANÜ-KAT), whose director is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Aca, and the Social Service Society, as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, November 25th. The program, held at the Aziz Sancar Conference Hall, began after a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. Attendees included Sibel Boz, wife of Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz; Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Serap Palaz Çakır; faculty members; representatives of various civil society organizations in Bandırma; women's associations; members of the press; and students.
The panel opened with a speech by BANÜ-KAT Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Aca. The first session, titled "The Background of Violence: Sociological and Psychological Perspectives," featured Sociologist Dr. Eda Kılıç and Expert Psychologist Serra Ayaz. The session was moderated by Dr. Lecturer Sinem Atay took the floor. Dr. Eda Kılıç addressed the social dimensions of violence, while Psychologist Serra Ayaz comprehensively evaluated the psychological effects of violence on individuals. At the end of the session, certificates of appreciation were presented to the speakers by Sibel Boz, Prof. Dr. Serap Palaz Çakır, and Prof. Dr. Aybeniz Akdeniz Ar.
In the second session, themed "Protection, Intervention, and Collaboration: Field Experiences," Social Worker Ayşen Gündüz, Chief Superintendent Hilal Sert of the Bandırma District Police Department, and police officers Nejla Yıldırım Çulha and Elif Sili shared their field experiences. The session was moderated by Dr. Lecturer Merve Çiloğlu Yörübulut. The session, which progressed interactively with questions from the audience, concluded with certificates of appreciation presented to the speakers by Prof. Dr. Recep Yıldız, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Aca, and Dr. Lecturer Gizem Burcu Karaali. The panel, which aimed to draw attention to violence against women and raise social awareness, concluded with a group photo taken to commemorate the day.
