October 13 – International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction Event
Proclaimed by the United Nations in 1989, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction aims to raise global awareness about disasters and strengthen resilience.
This year’s theme, “Invest in Resilience, Not in Disasters” (https://iddrr.undrr.org), emphasizes the importance of investing in risk reduction today to avoid paying the price of disasters in the future.
In this context, a training session was conducted for students of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Maritime Studies by Lecturer Fehim Göze, Coordinator of Disaster, Emergency, and First Aid. The session covered disaster awareness, warning and alarm signals (Yellow Warning, Red Alarm, Black Alarm, White Warning), and the Drop–Cover–Hold On practice, followed by a classroom evacuation drill.
The event aimed to enhance disaster awareness and strengthen a culture of safe living.
