Career Opportunities Abroad: The Case of the United Kingdom
The Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences organized an event titled “Career Opportunities Abroad: The Case of the United Kingdom” to raise awareness among nursing students about international career opportunities.
The event, which attracted great interest from both nursing students and faculty members, featured Pakize Durmaz, a Managerial Nurse working at the National Health Service (NHS) in London, United Kingdom, as the guest speaker. The program was moderated by Dr. Ayşe Sinem Taş, faculty member of the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
In her presentation, Durmaz shared comprehensive information about the working conditions of the nursing profession in the United Kingdom, as well as the education, employment, and international recruitment processes. She also discussed career development opportunities within the NHS system and shared her own professional journey from Türkiye to the United Kingdom, offering students an inspiring example.
Throughout the program, topics such as language proficiency requirements, credential recognition processes, work visa conditions, and clinical adaptation programs necessary for practicing nursing abroad were addressed. During the Q&A session, participants received answers to their questions about the healthcare system and nursing practices in the UK.
At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Latife Utaş Akhan, Head of the Department of Nursing, presented a certificate of appreciation to Pakize Durmaz for her valuable contributions. The program concluded with a group photo taken to commemorate the day.
