A “White Coat Ceremony” Was Held for the First Time for Nursing Students at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University
The Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, proudly accompanied its students on the first steps of their nursing journey by holding its inaugural White Coat Ceremony this year. This meaningful event, held for the first time in the 2024–2025 academic year, was filled with great enthusiasm and excitement.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Eseceli, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, department heads, faculty members, administrative staff, students, and their esteemed families.
In her opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Latife Utaş Akhan, Head of the Nursing Department, emphasized that the white coat ceremony is a significant symbol in the development of professional identity, and expressed her happiness in initiating this meaningful tradition. Following the speeches, first-year nursing students were presented with their name badges—symbolizing the beginning of their professional identity. The students wore this symbol with great pride and excitement, creating emotional moments during the ceremony.
In this first-ever ceremony, nursing students experienced the honor of taking their initial steps toward professional life, while faculty members and families shared the joy of witnessing this meaningful occasion. The program concluded with a group photo taken in memory of the day.
