2025 Nursing Students' Swearing-in Ceremony was held

 

The students of the Nursing Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences of our university experienced the pride of completing the 2024–2025 academic year and the excitement of taking their first steps into the nursing profession with the oath ceremony.

The ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall and began with a moment of silence followed by the Turkish National Anthem. The event continued with the screening of the department’s promotional video, providing participants with general information about the department.

The opening speeches of the ceremony were delivered by Prof. Dr. Latife Utaş Akhan, Head of the Nursing Department, and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erçakar, Vice Rector. Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Eseceli, also attended the event. In the speeches, the societal role of the nursing profession, its ethical responsibilities, and the importance of graduates upholding these values throughout their careers were emphasized.

During the ceremony, valedictorian Zeynep Nur Urlu, salutatorian Ferhat Arslan, and third-place graduates Habibe Aslı Kapukaya and İlkay Akdere shared their feelings and thoughts through their graduation speeches. Plaques and certificates were presented to the top-ranking students.

One of the most meaningful moments of the event was when graduate students appeared on stage representing Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, and Safiye Hüseyin Elbi, the pioneer of Turkish nursing. The symbolic presence of these two iconic figures served as a tribute to the rich heritage and core values of the nursing profession. Inspired by the legacy of these trailblazing women, our new graduates were invited to the stage amid enthusiastic applause to take their first steps into professional life.

Following this, the students recited the Nursing Oath under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Latife Utaş Akhan, officially marking the beginning of their professional journey.

The ceremony concluded with a group photo session on stage.
