A "Nursing Week Symposium" was organized at our university
The symposium organized by the Nursing Department of our University's Faculty of Health Sciences as part of Nursing Week was held with comprehensive sessions contributing to academic and professional development.
The symposium, whose honorary chairmanship was undertaken by our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz, was chaired by our Head of the Nursing Department, Prof. Dr. Latife Utaş Akhan. The program was attended by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ebru Kaya Mutlu, our Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Eseceli, our academic and administrative staff, health administrators, nurses, and students.
The program began with a moment of silence and the recitation of the National Anthem, followed by protocol speeches. The opening speeches addressed the scientific development of the nursing profession, its critical role in healthcare services, the quality of care services, the importance of professional solidarity, and perspectives on the future of nursing.
The two-day symposium included: In line with the guidelines, current topics such as urinary catheter management, infant massage practices, innovative approaches in nursing, and mindfulness-based sustainable care were evaluated by experts in their fields. During the sessions, current information and experiences regarding evidence-based care practices, patient safety, improving the quality of care, and supporting the well-being of nurses were shared with the participants.
The symposium also included the announcement of the results of the "Nursing Week Poster Competition," organized in line with the ICN 2026 theme. A total of 26 posters were evaluated in the competition, which attracted significant student interest, and the winning students received their awards. The participating posters were displayed in the foyer area throughout the symposium.
On the second day of the program, sessions addressed the historical development of the nursing profession, innovative care practices, and mindfulness-based approaches from various perspectives, while a musical performance by the students added color to the program.
The symposium concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation and a group commemorative photograph.
