The “Fully Smoke-Free Campus” Policy Came into Effect at Our University as of July 1, 2026

Our university has implemented the “Fully Smoke-Free Campus” initiative to foster a culture of healthy living, support environmental sustainability, and provide a safer living environment for all its stakeholders.

In accordance with Law No. 4207 on the Prevention and Control of the Harmful Effects of Tobacco Products, the decision of the University Senate dated October 16, 2025 (Resolution No. 2025/14), and the Smoke-Free Campus Implementation Guide prepared in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Council of Higher Education, and the Turkish Green Crescent Society, the “Fully Smoke-Free Campus” policy was adopted across all university campuses as of July 1, 2026.

Under this policy, the use of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products, hookahs, and all other tobacco-related products is restricted in both indoor and outdoor areas across all university campuses.

The “Fully Smoke-Free Campus” initiative aims to reduce tobacco use, prevent exposure to secondhand smoke, promote healthy lifestyle habits, and create a healthier campus environment for everyone—including students, staff, and visitors.

To ensure the effective implementation of this policy, informational campaigns will be conducted across our campuses, and announcements will be shared via websites, social media accounts, and other digital communication channels. Additionally, newly enrolled students, newly appointed staff, and visitors will be informed about the policy.

In pursuit of the goal of a “Healthy, Clean, and Safe Campus,” our university invites all students, staff, and visitors to support the “Fully Smoke-Free Campus” initiative. We thank our students, staff, and all external stakeholders for the understanding, sensitivity, and cooperation they will show regarding this important initiative of our university.
