Announcement Regarding Additional Exams and Time Extensions for Students Enrolled in Associate and Undergraduate Programs Who Reach the Maximum Duration of Study at the End of the 2025-2026 Academic Year Spring Semester

 

 

The regulation stipulates the following: “Except for the one-year foreign language preparatory class (maximum two years), students who fail to graduate within the maximum periods—four years for associate degree programs and seven years for undergraduate programs, calculated from the term in which courses for their registered program commenced, regardless of whether they registered for each term—may register to continue their studies, provided they pay the student contribution fee or tuition fee per course (for the relevant term’s practice sessions or exams) in accordance with the conditions specified in Article 46 of this Law. The maximum duration for preparatory education is two years. Students shall not be dismissed solely for failing to pay contribution fees or tuition fees or for failing to renew their registration within these maximum periods; however, upon the decision of the university’s competent boards and the approval of the Council of Higher Education, students may be dismissed if they fail to pay contribution fees or tuition fees or fail to renew their registration for four consecutive years.”

Following the additional period examinations, the student’s status will be evaluated within the framework of the “Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Associate and Undergraduate Education, Training, and Examination Regulation: Maximum Study Periods and Student Status (Article 12),” and the student will be granted an additional period, unlimited examination rights, or be dismissed from the university.

Students who have reached their maximum study periods are granted two additional examination rights for all courses they have failed. These two additional examinations are to be administered after the end-of-semester exam periods for the respective courses but before the start of the new academic term. If, at the conclusion of these examinations, a student fails to reduce the number of failed courses—including courses never taken and courses for which attendance requirements were not met—to five or fewer, their enrollment at the University shall be terminated.

For students who have reached their maximum duration of study and have taken the two additional exams granted for all courses they failed, never took, or failed due to non-attendance: those who reduce the number of such courses to five are granted three semesters for these five courses; those who have up to five such courses—without having exercised the right to take the additional exams—are granted four semesters; and those who have failed a single course are granted the right to take exams for that course an unlimited number of times, without retaining their student status.

This is an important announcement for students.
